Our Take: A brand new museum operated under the auspices of the Louisiana State Museum. The Museum, opened in October of 2023, presents videos, displays, and interactive screens to tell the story of the struggle of African Americans to achieve their civil rights. The Museum is currently housed in the Morial Convention Center where thousands of people (mostly African American) took shelter from hurricane Katrina. Another example of how history prevades the city.
