Our Take: One of New Orleans’ premier museums, the Ogden located in the Warehouse District, is based on Roger Ogden’s private art collection. Ogden, an LSU alum, is a real estate developer (Riverfront Mall, Loews Hotel, and many more) and philanthropist. He founded the Museum in 2003 and since that date, the Museum has grown tremendously and now owns over 4,000 works. The collection, as the name implies, concentrates on Southern Artists and includes works from Walter Anderson, Benny Andrews, Ida Kohlmeyer, and many others. Conde Nast Traveller says, “…with works dating back to 1733, this museum boasts the most comprehensive collection of Southern Art in the world.”
