Website Description: At Toups’ Meatery, you’ll find authentic cracklins’ on the menu which have been called “equal to Christendom’s finest”, cocktails by the pitcher, and the Meatery Board, a wonderful selection of house cured meats and accompaniments.
Our Take: Toups’ Meatery considers itself a Contemporary Cajun restaurant and one glance at their menu explains all. Crispy Turkey Necks with pepper jelly, Venison Loin with a mustard crust, or Lamb Necks with braised white beans, lemon zest, and parsley tell you you’re not in store for the usual Cajun fare – and that’s a great thing. Large plates as diverse as Confit Chicken Thighs or Couvillion (Cajun seafood Gumbo/Bouillabaisse), small plates (such as Spicy Fried Chicken Oysters or Crab Claws), and an “a la cart” section round out a menu that makes decisions difficult. Toups’ also offers lunch and weekend brunch – but hours might be affected by the summer season so check their website. Toups’ always ends up on the list of local favorites because, in addition to the artistry in the kitchen, Toups’ is a strong supporter of local causes. This summer (2024) Toups’ founders and their supporters are providing meals to over 500 children who don’t have access to school meals. See our link on this page to help or click here.
