Our Take: In 2024, former Times-Picayune reporter Brett Anderson (now at the NY Times) included St. Pizza as one of the top 24 pizza spots in the country. That’s all we need to reco this lower garden district spot. Part pizza joint, part tavern, St. Pizza is located at the foot of Magazine Street before the busy commercial section farther down the street. St. Pizza has an attitude and that is welcoming – including kids! A Tavern menu offers nibbles, salads, and a couple of Italian entrees. Pies take center stage of course and the usual suspects are offered. Parking can be a bit of a hassle and a 3.5% surcharge is added to all tavern checks for employee welfare and note, only whole pies are offered in the tavern area.
