About: All Bout Dat Tours offers a variety of tours with an emphasis on the African American heritage of New Orleans. Three tours are offered as well as custom tours. Most tours are conducted by Mikhala Iverson Afropean who founded her company over 10 years ago. Ms. Iverson has an extensive knowledge of New Orleans history and her website promises to present the complete story of New Orleans past. 
 
 
More Info: All Bout Dat Tours is led by Mikhala Iverson Afropean with the goal of educating tourists and locals alike. As she Ms. Iverson states on her website, “Passion for the culture, deep respect for the neighborhoods, and giving back to the communities, is who we are, the goal is to authentically represent Black history and the treasures of the birth of African American music – Jazz.”

Tours Offered:

Black Heritage and Jazz Tour:


This tour visits the essentials spots to understand Black History in New Orleans, Stops include Congo Square, Armstrong Park, Treme, and Bayou Road. Congo Square is the site, beginning around 1760, where the enslaved were able to celebrate their original culture, trade goods, and dance and sing on Sundays. Bayou Road was also a trading site for the enslaved and was also used by the Indigenous peoples of the area. Today Bayou Road offers a variety of black-owned businesses.

Swamp & Whitney Plantation Combo Tour:


The Whitney Plantation is an essential stop for anyone who wants to understand Lousiana and American history the role of slavery in our country’s creation. See our webpage for more info. The Whitney was originally a working sugar plantation that operated through about 1850. Today is has been restored and tells the story of those who toiled in insufferable conditions. This all-day tour also visits the swamps of Lousiana  and pickup is made from visitors’ hotel.

Singing Is Praying (Sundays):


This almost 2 hour tour meets at St. Augustine Church in Treme and explores “the oldest African-American neighborhood in the nation”…Sundays Only.
