Yes it’s a tourist trap, yes the place suffers from the heavy tourist traffic but still, no better place for beignets and chicory cafe au lait. Period. Centrally located in The “French Market” (actually built under Spanish rule) the site dates to 1791, was destroyed by a hurricane in 1812 and was soon rebuilt.
