Re-Opening Summer of 2024!

Website Description: Our store in the historic French Quarter is moving along with the extensive repairs required from the damages caused by Hurricane Ida. Meanwhile, we have resumed making our famous Muffulettas and have them available for purchase at local locations.

Our Take: When Hurricane Ida hit New Orleans in 2021, the building housing Central Grocery almost collapsed. After extensive renovations, Central Grocery expects to reopen in late summer of 2024. YES! Central Grocery claims to be the home of the original Muffuletta. While this may or may not be true, their sanswiches are great. Great bread and great italian cold cuts makes for one of the best in the city. If they’re open – GO!
