Our Take: Not a po-boy at all but its own version of a great sandwich, Francolini’s offers the Italian “sub” that bears no resemblance to that franchise that shall go unnamed. Like the po-boy, Italian subs depend on great bread to (more dense than po-boy breads) and Francolini’s stop selling their sandwiches when the fresh bread runs out. The quintessential Italian sub is made from deli meats (mortadella is a must), cheese and shredded lettuce. Francolini’s offers other hot and cold variations and sandwiches that can be ordered on focaccia for an up-charge. Forget about it, these are great sandwiches.
