The 2024 Ghostly Gallivant Tour

From the Friends of Cabildo Website, “Get ready to explore the haunted history of Gallatin Street and uncover chilling tales of the past. This in-person tour/event promises to be a night of thrills and scares.” Click Here for more info.
Bywater Tour
Saturday October 19 at 10 am.
From the Friends of the Cabildo Website, “The Bywater, previously known as the Upper Ninth Ward, lies on natural high ground along the Mississippi River. In the 300 years of urban growth, the desirable riverside location transformed from colonial plantations to an important industrial area linked by railroads and river transport to national and international shipping. The dense working class community that grew up alongside is rich in historic houses – colorful Creole cottages and ornamented shotgun dwellings – and has been transformed since Hurricane Katrina floods into one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods.” Click Here for more info.
Battle of New Orleans Tour
Saturday October 26 at 10:00 am and Saturday November 16 at 10:00 am
From the Friends of the Cabildo Website, “The Battle of New Orleans was a defining event in America’s national identity. The Friends of the Cabildo Battle of New Orleans tour offers a fascinating look at the history away from the battlefield, from lost locations of forts that protected the city to Andrew Jackson’s headquarters and events in the French Quarter related to the unfolding combat. First developed for the Bicentennial of the Battle of New Orleans, the tour continues to draw historians, locals, and visitors for a unique perspective on this pivotal moment in American history.” Click Here for more info.
Marigny Tour
Saturday November 2, 10:00 am Part 1; Saturday November 9, 10:00 am Part 2
From the Friends of the Cabildo Website, “Faubourg Marigny was one of the city’s earliest suburbs, originally formed on land subdivided from the plantation of Bernard de Marigny de Mandeville, one of New Orleans’s most colorful historical figures. Today, the Marigny is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a city-designated historic district, partly because of its residents’ focused preservation of the many Creole cottages and shotgun houses situated there. Due to its shape following the bend in the Mississippi River, locals often divide the neighborhood into the “Marigny triangle” and the “Marigny rectangle.” Click Here for more info.
