Our Take: Anyone who has spent time in New Orleans has dined at Pascal’s Manale. Begun in 1913 as a corner grocery store, the spot morphed over the decades into one of the mainstays of New Orleans cuisine. Recently, the restaurant has had two ownership changes and is not part of the Dickie Brennan group. While sporting a traditional Italian menu, Pascal’s also offers New Orleans’ favorites such as oysters and gumbo. The restaurant’s claim to fame is its version of Barbeque Shrimp. This is nothing like southern bbq but rather a heart-stopping combination of butter, worcestershire, and pepper coating head-on shrimp. For those truly interested, see this YouTube Video. With the recent Brennan infusion of vitality, Pascal’s will likely survive another 100 years.
