Website Description:    Frankie and Johnny’s restaurant was opened in 1942 by Johnny Morreale and his then brother in law Frank Gaudin. The restaurant thrived feeding hungry dock workers and merchant men who made a living working on the river…Today we continue Johnny’s mission by pursuing our one simple goal: to be the best neighborhood restaurant in New Orleans.                         

Our Take: Frankie & Johnny’s self-proclaimed goal is to be the best neighborhood restaurant in the city and locals agree. Nothing fancy but the menu reflects a New Orleans and Italian heritage. Pasta, po-boys, and seafood platters are quintessential local fare and Frankie & Johnny’s does them well.
